*Certain job titles eligible for membership with the Board of Education Retirement System (BERS) or NYC Teachers Retirement System (TRS) may allow you to continue your membership with NYCERS as a Transferred Contributor. To determine your eligibility, refer to the Transferred Contributor section in your Tier’s Plan Description. To apply, complete and submit the proper Transferred Contributor Affidavit, available below.

Do not apply for a refund of your accumulated salary deductions from NYCERS if you are considering a transfer. Doing so will make you ineligible for transfer. Please consult your new retirement system if you have already received a refund from NYCERS.

To apply for a transfer of your NYCERS membership:
  1. Apply for membership with the new retirement system and wait to receive your new membership number.
  2. Log in to your MyNYCERS account at mynycers.org.
    New to MyNYCERS? Register
  3. Click Apply for: Transfer and follow the instructions. You will be required to provide details about your new employing agency and new retirement system (including your new member number).

Alternatively, you can print and complete an Application for Transfer of Member’s Accumulated Salary Deductions Form #321, available below.

Please note that if records show you are on leave of absence at the time you file, you will not be eligible for transfer.
