The prime function of the New York City Employees' Retirement System is to administer the statutory pension benefits of its members, retirees, and beneficiaries. In support of this function, we shall manage the agency so that we are able to provide superior service.

Towards that goal, we shall:

1. Make correct benefit payments, in a timely manner.
2. Maximize investment returns on the funds of the system, with an appropriate level of risk.
3. Use technology, along with a talented, professional and dedicated staff, to set new standards of excellence in the service we provide.
